READBOX

This is our new middle school bulletin board. I had one of my high school TA's look at a bunch of other READBOX examples and this is what she came up with. I think it turned out great. I have noticed my students stopping to look at the pictures of books.

Fun boards

Here are a few bulletin boards that my high school helpers put together for our elementary school at the end of the summer school program to get us ready for the fall. I think they turned out really nice.

Teachers Read Too

This is a bulletin board that we put together at the end of the school year. I asked the teachers to take a picture of themselves reading somewhere outside of school. I didn't get a lot of the teachers to participate because it was a busy time for them. The students really liked the board.

White Pine: My Year as a Lumberjack and a River Rat

White Pine: My Year as a Lumberjack and a River Rat by Caroline Akervik is a wonderful historical fiction book. It is the story of a young boy named Sevy who is fourteen years old.  His father get hurt and is unable to go back to his job working at a lumberjack camp in the northern woods of Wisconsin. Sevy has to go in place of his father. He has to leave school and his friends to embark upon this adventure. Sevy faces many challenging  and dangerous situations while at the lumberjack camp.

White Pine: My Year as a Lumberjack and a River Rat is written for the upper elementary and middle school aged children.  This book is a wonderful addition for anyone teaching about Wisconsin’s past or about the world of the lumberjack. Those who love the Little House on the Prairie books will also enjoy this book.
