The Paper Crane

Image result for the paper crane by molly bang

Today I did a lesson using the story The Paper Crane by Molly Bang. I used the Reading Rainbow video and played the segments of the book, origami making and paper making.  I used this with my fourth graders and they loved it. After the video they were able to go to our table area and do origami. I found our origami books from our collection and printed out some directions from online and laminated them.

Here are a few resources for online directions.

Bulletin Boards and Displays of the Past

I realized that I have not posted in a while so I decided to post about all the displays that we have had since my last post. I hope you find some good ideas.

Creepy Carrots

We have a first grade enrichment class that meets in the library and my aide read the book Creepy Carrots to the students and did the activities seen in the pictures. The students loved creating their own creepy carrot.

The next three pictures are from our High School Library at Halloween time. My aide had a great time decorating. The students where excited to see all the decorations.

The display below was from my Middle School Library. The students at that school were able to find some scary books very easily.

Banned Book Display

Banned book week my library aide put up this great display. When she was putting it up she had the books backwards on the stands and the students became very curious as to why. She ended up taking pictures of the students with the the banned book that they had read that looked like photos taken when arrested at the police station. It was great!
